Comoros

The country's capital is Moroni, its official languages are Comorian (Shikomor), spoken by 96.9% of the population, French and Arabic, and its currency is the Comorian franc. The Union of the Comoros is a member of the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the International Organisation of the Francophonie and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie. A French colony since 1892, the Comoros gained independence on 6 July 1975.
