Chad
Chad establishes a link between North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. With a surface area of 1,284,000 km2, it is the fifth largest country in Africa.
Its capital is N'Djaména. Three-quarters of Chad is made up of rural areas. Agriculture and livestock farming are the dominant activities. By 2004, oil accounted for more than 80 % of the country's exports, enabling the trade balance to move into clear surplus.
