Côte d'Ivoire: The Government Announces the Reopening of Land Borders Closed Since

"The Council has adopted a decree opening Côte d'Ivoire's land borders," announced Ivorian government spokesman Amadou Coulibaly at the end of a Council of Ministers meeting chaired by the Head of State, Alassane Ouattara, in Abidjan-Plateau on Wednesday 15 February 2023.

"This decree sets the opening of land borders from midnight on Tuesday 15 February 2023," he said.

The government spokesman recalled that as part of the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, the government decided on 20 March 2020 to close Côte d'Ivoire's land, sea, and air borders to all human traffic, with effect from 22 March 2020.

According to Amadou Coulibaly, in view of the favourable global health situation and the upturn in economic activity, air and sea borders have already been reopened.
