AfCFTA Presents Its Latest Report to Niger's President Issoufou Mahamadou

In Niamey on Monday 22 March 2021, President Issoufou Mahamadou of Niger met with a delegation from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), led by Secretary General Mr. Wamkele Mene, who presented their latest report to the president.

After the meeting, Mr. Wamkele Mene addressed the press, stating that they had "come to present their latest report to President Issoufou Mahamadou before the end of his mandate."

"We felt it was important for the President to be aware of the work we have carried out over the last six months before he leaves office," Mene explained, commending the President for his pivotal role in advancing AfCFTA. He expressed gratitude for President Issoufou Mahamadou's dedication, recognizing him as the Champion chosen by his African peers to lead this crucial project as part of the African Union's Agenda 2063.

"Without his leadership and that of Niger, AfCFTA will not succeed," emphasized the Secretary General.

The meeting was attended by the Acting Director of Cabinet, Mr. Fomakoye Gado, and the Minister of Trade.
