AfCFTA National Committee

In Côte d'Ivoire, the promotion, coordination and monitoring of the national implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement fall under the responsibility of the AfCFTA-NC, as set out in the Decree taken out in 2018. This national body serves as the interface between Côte d'Ivoire and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat. Established under the authority of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Minister of Sports and Quality of Life, the AfCFTA-NC is responsible for:

  •  Promoting the Agreement at national level
  •  Contributing to the development of national strategies
  •  Addressing issues relating to negotiations and implementation.
  •  Contributing to boosting national expertise on the AfCFTA;
  •  Gathering proposals from national stakeholders for greater participation in the Agreement;
  •  Making recommendations to the Government on issues relating to the implementation of the Agreement;
  •  Ensuring the effective implementation of measures taken by the Government under the Agreement;

Under the terms of Article 3 of Decree No. 2018-514, it is made up of three (03) bodies, namely the following:

  1. Strategic and Decision-Making Council (SDMC)
  2. Technical Committee (TC)
  3. Executive Secretariat (ES).
