EXPO DUBAI 2020: Côte d'Ivoire Sells Its Investment Opportunities

Speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Patrick Achi, Minister of State Kandia Camara outlined the investment opportunities available in Côte d'Ivoire on November 26. She spoke at a press conference on the sidelines of the national day dedicated to Côte d'Ivoire at the “EXPO DUBAI 2020” world exhibition.

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Patrick Achi, led the delegation to the world's fair. Minister of State Kandia Camara recalled the vision of the Head of State Alassane Ouattara, supported by the Government headed by Prime Minister Patrick Achi, to transform, in depth, the Ivorian economy.

For her, investors should choose to invest in Côte d'Ivoire, which has one of the most “attractive” investment codes in the world. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Souleymane Diarrassouba, pointed out that investing in Côte d'Ivoire, a stakeholder in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), “means investing in Africa and entering a market of 1.5 billion consumers”.

He recalled that Côte d'Ivoire will be organizing the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), the continent's biggest trade show in 2023. For his part, the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Siandou Fofana, encouraged Emirati groups to come and help Côte d'Ivoire transform the tourism industry. He pointed out that Côte d'Ivoire has some 600 km of coastline waiting to be exploited.

The forthcoming opening of an Ivorian diplomatic representation in the United Arab Emirates will make it possible to open a tourism office, announced Siandou Fofana. The Minister of Culture, Industry, Arts and Entertainment, Arlette Badou, recalled Côte d'Ivoire's rich cultural heritage. She urged the Emiratis and all those present to come and discover it.

Designated to organize the 2023 African Cup of Nations, Côte d'Ivoire is in the midst of a major construction project, said Paulin Danho, Minister for the Promotion of Sports and the Development of the Sports Economy. Before inviting the investment community to support Côte d'Ivoire in its plans to build an Olympic city and a medical clinic specializing in traumatology.

Roger Adom, Minister of the Digital Economy, Telecommunications and Innovation, explained that the Ivorian government aims to increase the digital economy's share of GDP from the current 10% to 18% by 2025.

And to achieve this, Côte d'Ivoire is opening its arms to the entire investment community. During the Ivorian delegation's stay, the Prime Minister held a series of meetings to present the Vision 2030 program and the Head of State's ambition to build a Côte d'Ivoire based on solidarity. Everywhere he went, he highlighted the country's many assets.
