Tunisia and Togo Strengthen their Economic ties Through the AfCFTA

The development of trade and fostering exchanges between economic players from Tunisia and Togo were at the heart of discussions during a meeting held on Wednesday at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. The meeting brought together Najla Bouden, Head of Government of Tunisia, and Victoire Tomegah Dogbé, Prime Minister of Togo.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of identifying promising areas for cooperation and agreed to coordinate efforts to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). They noted that the AfCFTA provides a strategic opportunity to enhance trade between African nations and drive economic growth on the continent.

In addition to promoting intra-African trade, the two sides highlighted the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors. Bouden proposed that her Togolese counterpart explore the possibility of hosting the sixth session of the Tunisia-Togo Joint Commission in Lomé, underlining the significance of continued collaboration between the two nations.
